St Margaret of Castello

Cloisters

Well-known member
Today's the memorial of St Margaret of Castello. She was born deformed, and abandoned by her parents at a Shrine when not cured. She eventually became a Dominican Tertiary (laity). She is one of the prolife movements' least-known patrons.

Our Dominican Laity chapter at St Louis Bertrand Church in Louisville, KY, named our newsletter "The Mantellata" after her. The term was common at a time that the tertiaries were permitted public use of the habit. (There's probably more to that subject than what I know).

Blessings,
