“The Green New Deal would cost a typical household more than $70,000 in the first year of implementation, approximately $45,000 for each of the next four years, and more than $37,000 each year thereafter according to a study by Power the Future and the Competitive Enterprise Institute posted on CEI’s webpage.

The goal of the Green New Deal is to eliminate the use of carbon-based fuels and industries.
The overall price tag of the Green New Deal in other studies have been pegged at $93 trillion. It would result in gas taxes of $10-$13 per gallon.

“Economists and experts have been warning us for months about the devastating effects of the Green New Deal, and now we have the numbers to prove it,” said Daniel Turner, executive director of Power the Future.

"This study only calculates a fraction of the cost of Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez’s radical plan, which amounts to a socialist free-for-all with no regard for the American taxpayer. No family should be forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars in the first year alone to fund AOC’s ideological wish list.

So when we who make less than $400,000 buy gas, we won’t have to pay the $10-$13 dollar gas tax, but those who make greater than $400,000 have to pay that $10-$13 dollar gas tax?

How will that gas pump know whether my income is less than or greater than $400,000? (I suppose it could be programmed into my card.)

I can’t help but think this is a scare technique to make us all ditch our cars and start walking or riding our bikes to work. I hear that parts of the Dakotas got 20 inches of snow in the last few days–great bike riding weather!

how does the power being shut off because there isn’t enough green energy stored work with asthma sufferers on hot humid nights? California has rolling blackouts because of the limits on fossil fuel. what about the people that need electricity for their medical devices. New York has issues with heating homes because of the limits on natural gas, how does the bitter cold affect asthma and other chronic diseases?

Trading about 1/10 the pollution, or in essence cutting it by 90%.

what about the people that need electricity for their medical devices.

Those people can have battery backup systems in their homes. If they are on a truly life saving medical device that needs to keep running, they should have them regardless of energy source.

Ocasio-Cortez said Biden not supporting the GND “isn’t news.” “Our differences are exactly why I joined Biden’s Climate Unity Task Force - so we could set aside our differences & figure out an aggressive climate plan to address the planetary crisis at our feet.” Biden is walking a fine line, but praising the 14-page, nonbinding resolution as a “crucial framework” is not the same as fully supporting the potential policies and proposals from the Green New Deal.

It has also been confirmed while the U.S. was hitting its climate goals, at the same time “80 percent of the increase in CO2 emissions came from Asia and that China and India both contributed significantly” to global increases.

Those who ostensibly attack “man-made” climate change, but who fail to give President credit, and who also fail to criticize China, appear to lack credibility.

I read that if elected Trump will continue to donate his salary to charity, If biden is elected he will donate everyone’s salaries to government.

The deal will cost trillions. Ecological damage will also cost trillions. Meanwhile, tax revenues are eventually spent on economic activity which also lead to more pollution.

The only way out is to decrease resource and energy use per person on a global scale, which is also what the Church wants (i.e., maintain economic activity to ensure basic needs and thus human dignity) but most won’t agree. Given that, nature will force people to do so.

Decreasing steadily since 2007, with steepest decline during Obama’s 1st term (when he and congress worked together) then slowing and morre rapidly in Trumps term, rising in his first year, but continuing slowly down, slowing the more he removed Obama and International safeguards to allow returns to pollution because he thought we were doing too well, too much compared to other countries, even though we have a big impact on the world. It decreased under Jimmy Carter, then started right back up again until Barack Obama.

So, one more term of MAGA (didn’t work first time, Try Again Make America Great Again (TAMAGA) by removing more environment safeguards, to protect the little birds he said are killed by windmills, and pump more exhaust into the air and not just Hot Air.
